Biography

Valerie DeLatte is a born and raised New Orleans girl who found herself in Shreveport, Louisiana, when she accepted a judicial clerkship at the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal. The plan was to temporarily move to Shreveport after graduating with a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, but Valerie fell in love with Shreveport because it is a place that has an active community working to build a vibrant culture and future.

Valerie very was active in law school as the Vice President of the Tax Law Society and helped to run the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinic for three years, she was also a member of the criminal law society, and competed in two national mock trial tournaments through Loyola’s Trial Advocacy Program. In addition, she began practicing law her third year of law school in The Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic & Center for Social Justice.

Valerie has worked with the Jack Pack since 2019, with a primary focus in civil litigation, personal injury, and workers’ compensation. She dedicates much of her time to the legal community as a volunteer in many of the Shreveport Bar Foundation’s pro bono programs, as a mentor and coach for high school mock trial students, a representative for North Louisiana in the Louisiana State Bar Association House of Delegates, and a consistent supporter of events and programing in the Shreveport-Bossier Area.

In her free time you can find her outside running, biking, kayaking, playing tennis, or walking her dogs.

Valerie cares about her clients and her community. Her professional and personal philosophy includes giving back in ways that make a meaning difference, including taking the time to share her knowledge and experience with others to help bridge the gap in the access to justice and general understanding of the law. She begins every day with a prayer to be the lord’s hands on earth to help others in need to lift up those around her.

Valerie is a Past President of the Shreveport Bar Young Lawyers Section, current President of the Shreveport Bar Women’s Section, and has served on the Executive Board for a number of years. She is a member of the Krewe of Justinian and past royalty of the Krewe of Highland.
